A clarification regarding PCL 6, which you mentioned above: There are 
no PCL 6 drivers for RISC OS. We only have PCL 5. Fortunately, PCL is 
backward compatible, so PCL 6 printers are happy to be driven by a PCL 
5 driver, but only in black and white, which is all PCL 5 supports. 
Colour printing would require a PCL 6 driver.

The only way to drive a laser printer in colour natively from RISC OS 
is via PostScript.

Things are easier for black and white printers. Most support some sort 
of PCL, so they can be driven from RISC OS, but there are even a few 
HP laser printers that do not support PCL, e.g., the LaserJet 1020.
