No, it doesn't display images. I guess it could use an image to ascii 
art converter, but these need a huge screen display to see something.

However, 'mc' when run in an X environment can fire things like 
"display" to display the images. The only snag I find with "display" is 
that it often sizes bigger than the monitor and resizing needs several 
clicks.

Ranger I didn't know about. I have it installed, though. Tried it now. I 
think I still prefer 'mc'. Of course, I used similar tools in MsDOS, so 
familiarity goes a long road :-D
