S.u.S.E. went through a many iterations. Originally they didn't have their 
own distribution but were printing manuals and providing support. In the 
'80s and '90s you bought software in a box and it included manuals.

The $2 must be from a garage sale along the way. iirc it was $40. 
'Everything You Need!' was a selling point. 

We've went full circle from the original Slackware, download a bunch of 
files and write them to a couple of boxes of floppies, good luck, to 
download an iso, good luck. Documentation is out there someplace.

Some organizations might be comfortable paying $1000 or so a year for 24/7 
support.  That's relatively cheap. RHEL is a little more.
