Yes. And you could even buy Linux CDs in shops. I've acquired some
that way. My first distro was Slackware 3.4 bought from a computer shop
in the heart of Melbourne. (That shop no longer exists, sadly! It
closed down a couple years or so ago after surviving for many years.
There are many pressures on small businesses these days: increased rent
and council rates, fewer people buying their merchandise, customer base
moving online, etc. And the pandemic put the last nail in the coffin, I
guess.)
