You're using the wrong Linux. In fact, you might be using nu-Linux.

Those not-as-popular Unix are great if you're just making a webserver
that sends traffic over ethernet, but the hardware support is way
lacking. Even Linux can still be a challenge. Will it support these?

I use Wayland now, because I need this machine to be stable. Previously,
with the 'radeon' kmod, X11 was stable. Since more recent Mesa forced
using amdgpu, I've had no stability. 1-2 days, tops. This is what it
looks like:

No amount of updating nor kernel changing, nor fiddling fixed
that. Wayland stays up, so Wayland it is. Some applications misbehave,
and Xephyr doesn't work with XDM to some systems, but at least I can get
stuff done without explosions, flying body parts, and having to hit the
power button.

Sure I could buy a new GPU, but would *it* work? Would it even fit this
machine?
Will Xlibre do anything? It's too soon to tell. I hope they keep old X11
alive. Recall the change-over from XFree86 to Xorg - that took quite a
long time.
With all these devs pulling in varying directions (Wayland, Xorg,
Xlibre), I fear this will only hurt the community at large. There's only
so many man-hours to put into software; it would be nice if everyone
worked together on the same project.
