C'mon now. Heinlein wrote 'Starship Troopers' so Harry Harrison spoofed it with 'Bill, the Galactic Hero'. It was a parody on the mindless evolution of the System, that grinds men up and spits them out all the time talking of Glorious Causes. Heinleins Glorious Causes become exercises in pointless wars against an enemy that no one has seen for generations. And may not even still exist. Bill finally turns the System back on itself, by using his free government postage to anywhere in the galaxy, to rid earth of its waste. It is reminiscent of Spinrad's 'The Iron Dream' - a parody of 'Mein Kampf' , written (allegedly) as a bad pulp fiction SF in the 1920s by one A Hitler, who emigrated from Germany just after WWI... -- “The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false face for the urge to rule it.” – H. L. Mencken
