Different systems require different solutions. Sorry, why? Kenny said some Linux apps install themselves in a Windows manner, so it is possible. And people can create a Linux-like file structure in Windows if they are that desperate to distribute the elements of their applications as far and wide as possible. > You may want to drive on the right side of the road in the UK or Australia, > because that's the way you drive in USA or Canada, but your desire isn't > going to get you very far. Wrong analogy. Driving on the left or right are just different-handed ways of doing the same thing. A more apt one is to split the party up so each is driving their own car, and with a different start point and destination! > Suck it up, buttercup, and write a solution appropriate to the platform, and > not appropriate to your prejudices or preferences. Suppose I manage to put all my support files directly into an executable as accessible data; then what? I'm now effectively running my app just like Windows does, from the same path. What is going to happen? Probably nothing. In that case why is it such a big deal if I split the file into two, and access that extra file in the same place as the main executable? -- Bartc
