Unless you had an app that used curses or had a fondness for legacy DOS games you wouldn't. PDCurses can be built on Windows but between that and trying to get the dbVista 'graphical' interface to use it I was happy to find DOSBox. Another casualty was Hyperterminal that was removed in Win 7, but you could copy it from an XP machine. Some things move slowly and paging services hung on to 2400 baud dialup interfaces forever. HT allowed you to experiment with parity, stop bits, and so forth until you got a recognizable response. Toward the end the big problem was finding a 56k modem that would stoop so low as using 2400 baud.
