The TI-30, which wsa my first real calculator circa 1977, was similar. Out of the box you could run it off a 9v battery. But you could get the battery pack, which added the charger and the battery pack. You're better off there than with some old calculators. There was a period in the nineties when I'd see them at garage sales for a few dollars, and all of them had bad batteries. So one has to figure out a means of fixing in new batteries. And of course, the TI Programmer wasn't about programming, but it gave you an easy method of converting between decimal, hex, binary and octal. And I thought it did logic operations like AND, OR, XOR, and shift left and shift right. I always wanted one, but couldn't justify it at the time. IN the mid-eighties, I got a Casio or Sharp calculator that at least allowed one to convert the various things. Maybe it had logical operations, but it lacked some of them. Now, any ten dollar 375 function calculators has all of that built in. Michael
