FWIW, the Firefox that came with Slackware 14.1 fails to render the
page properly on the only site I care about that depends on all  the
clever moderny js, markup innovations and other bloat.

Mostly I use Netscape 4.76 or FF 2.0 where NN fails. I don't do
Amazon, FB or any similar but FF 2.0 is beginning to fail on what
should be simple sites because they enforce HTTPS and reject older
encryption protocols.
