Maybe that's why.  Maybe recent browsers don't offer it.

I was just going through an old file box, finding things from when I first 
used Linux in 2001, and there was stuff about controlling the font size 
while browsing.  I'd forgotten about doing that, making me wonder if the 
option is still there in recent browsers.

I didn't think my browser was "old" but for the first time with a graphic 
browser, I'm hitting the wall.  I'm not getting into some sites that 
require logging in (hence more secure), gmail is giving me trouble, my 
bank account doesn't respond, I can't log into my account at Canada's Big 
Book Chain.  And that's just happened at some point in the summer, it was 
fine in the spring.  So I have to get around to instlaling the latest 
slackware on the new refurbished computer.
