I think it may be possible to power down a lot of the ARM processor
while letting the RTU's run.  When they notice something interesting
happening, they can wake up the ARM.

I've been thinking of some stuff involving free-space optical
communication, where you have to detect an LED toggling at 10's of mhz
or faster.  This was also one of the ideas that I had for the GA144.
