The language "made up its mind" no later than 1989. There is no
real ambiguity as far as the language is concerned. Stop pretending
not to know how to use your tools correctly. (Tiny C probably
cannot be made to produce the required diagnostic. If so, it's
not a fully conforming compiler.)
