There's no issue with using WMI *if* it's available. The problem is that you're basically FORCING people to have WMI available in order to use your app. If you're only using this for licensing of your app, then I think it's in your best interest to come up with a better licensing scheme. It's one thing to use WMI to obtain hardware and software information in order to troubleshoot a problem. It's entirely different to make WMI a required dependency for licensing purposes when there's other ways you can protect your software. Mike
