The first time I read The Monk it had a different ending. Matilda tells him her demoness name and explains that he was good with a small evil side, and she grew the evil side. Then there is the dialogue: "Time to go." "What, right now?" Ambrosio makes a repenting face. "Enough of your hypocrisy." The same line occurs in The Good Place S1E08. I went to the university library and found the book but it had the usual ending. Another time media had a different ending was the DVD of Constantine. He was holding the Spear of Destiny at an angle like his penis. I brought it to my friend, played it on his DVD player, and I asked him if he saw the same thing I did. But he didn't answer. Then it changed back to the usual ending.
