Not by much. The fttn service happens first and then a couple
of days for the old number to be ported to their voip service.

> I am not wedded to my existing number and would only have hosp. bank and a

I have got some people need to find the number when
the shit has hit the fan very spectacularly indeed for them
and they need to call me to get me to do something for
them urgently and its handy to be listed for that reason.

I've also had the cops call me one saturday morning when
a couple of arsehole kids were caught quite literally walking
around the streets with a wheelbarrow, loading it with stuff
they could find in cars which weren't locked. I went to a pissup
on the friday evening, got some grog from the drive thru
bottle shop in the days before I brewed my own, and managed
to forget to lock the passengers door after that in the 66 Beetle
that didn’t have central locking. Doubt they would have bothered
if they had to knock on everyone's door.

Bloody hell. The adsl2+ service dropped out at 12:30, took about
an hour before the fttn was working, but that’s because the first call
to MyRepublic took 25 mins to answer and then when he put me on
hold to get the service provisioned with them, that call dropped out.

Getting 108/44 which isnt too bad at all.

Even FTTN would be better than ADSL in any flavour. As long as the
copper between you and the node is decent. That's the variable you need
to watch.

Yeah, I only had a minor glitch because my services over the copper
were not listed. No reason why you should have that problem and
Optarse Wholesale knows how to handle that now anyway.

> It seems you got there in the end :)

Yeah, one hell of a result. The neighbours
kid should get almost as good a result too.

Yeah, that obviously remains to be seen but since
its done by Optarse Wholesale who have the second
biggest operation in town mobile phone wise,
should be fine backhaul capacity wise. Not that
I care, I don't even bother with Netflix, don't find
the time to watch all the free to air TV I am interested
in watching. Did a couple of torrents late yesterday
arvo and they were noticeably faster than with the
adsl2+ service and worked fine.

Certainly havent found too many who have got
connected to fttn in town yet, just one was also
being connected yesterday, but he was at work
when I was talking to him in one of the local
facebook groups and another was connected
last week. Most of the locals don't even know
if they have an fttn service or fixed wireless nbn
and those with fixed wireless nbn are getting
a pretty lousy result. Not all tho.

Completely fucking stupid to do that.

The NBN with MyRepublic is actually CHEAPER than adsl,
and fucking sight faster too. Only a fool wouldn't change
as soon as they can.
