I had created the partition as GPT so I changed it to MBR and now I can 
boot. but how do I format a drive that win10 doesn't see?

I've had nothing but trouble with windoze10!. life was so much 
simpler/easier with XP you just put a drive in and it would find it and 
ask you to format it
