had already checked

I don't. also had already tried name changing machines

  I can ping the others, but all machines appear on the network anyway

this is what I got after I did all that, rebooted, and tried to connect 
the problem PC to the network..

does any of this help? :(

I don't know much about networking, as I've never had to deal with it, 
so currently I'm looking to see if I can find some utility or tool to 
diagnose the problem. I came across this program, which is way out of my 
league, but I thought it might be useful to you, if you don't already 
know about it of course
