One of the few places I know which doesn't (didn't?) have mobile coverage, is Bedourie QLD (north of Birdsville, south of Boulia). Radio towers in abundance, but no mobile coverage. Have I got news for him! ;-) Well, we've seen a bunch of youngsters in a very old (2WD) sedan, packed with luggage, doing the Gibb River Road and they *did* get through, even managed the Pentacost River Crossing. So it's just us wimps with our high-clearance 4WDs which have it all wrong! :-) B.T.W. Why the bloody fsck isn't *this* bloody thread (cross)posted to aus.cars!?
