English to Hebrew and back

During the 1980s I visited some of  my wife's relatives in Israel.
They ran a small family insurance brokerage.

They proudly showed me their latest acquisition, an IBM AT desktop
computer. The operating system was PC-DOS (Windows had yet to make an
appearance).

They waited for the look of amazement on my face when they demonstrated
switching from English running from left to right to Hebrew running
from Right to Left by clicking ALT-LEFT Shift and vice versa  with
ALT-RIGHT shift.

Years later I purchased a package that achieved the same thing in
Windows 98.

I rarely use Hebrew myself but it would come in useful.

Well, now I am using LibreOffice in Mint. I have followed every
suggestion I could find on the Internet but cannot get the typefaces to
change although I can get the text to switch from Left to right and
right to Left but that is no use without switching the typefaces.

A step by step approach is necessary for a geriatric like me.
