You should have used the File Explorer search box.
For example, if using the Start : Run box or using the Command Prompt window:
<prompt> explorer.exe %userprofile%\Downloads
starts a File Explorer window, and points to your Downloads folder.
Now, go to the upper right corner and enter your search.
