Java is deeply embedded into MacOS.  I don't know what you'd break if 
you removed it.  I suppose you could reverse engineer the patch that 
Apple created from the Oracle sources, if you had them.  How good are 
you with Java development tools and coding?  Unless you get paid T&M to 
fix this, I'd tell the client "Life is unsure.  Live it it.  Or 
upgrade."  but they're not my client.  That's the downside of being on 
such an old version of the OS.  They essentially have to pay you to take 
Apple's place for support.
