There have been times when I wished my grandfather had changed his family 
name when he moved to the UK.  I've even had the stupid tell me I don't 
know how to spell it correctly.

More recent examples arose in the UK when French breeds of cattle became 
popular. Charolais and Limousin became Chevrolet and Limousine for my 
then local (Yorkshire) farmers.
