Package: initramfs-tools Version: 0.130 Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer, While the BOOT environment variable (either set to "local" or "nfs") is currently exposed to boot scripts, it's currently not documented in the manpage. Knowing the boot method can be useful at init-premount and init-bottom stages. For instance in the case of remote cryptroot unlocking using ssh, bringing the network up is optional for local mounts; since it can take quite a while (and failure after the 5min timeout isn't fatal) we'd like to do that in the background so the user can meanwhile type in the passphrase locally. Please document the variable if boot scripts can rely on the value of BOOT. Otherwise, could you suggest an alternative to rolling out our own logic? Thanks, Cheers, -- Guilhem.
