Just make sure the gdm3 package is installed, and you should get the graphical login (the technical term is "display manager"). Jessie uses systemd to control services. It's very different from the old sysvinit way (/etc/inittab and /etc/init.d/* and so on). The VERY basic version is: systemctl start servicename systemctl stop servicename systemctl status servicename There's obviously a lot more to it, but that's enough for one day.
