Well I suggest logging into the router and see what you can see about
who is connected and whatever you can see in the logs.

I hope you know the first entry wins if it responds. The rest are
never used unless the one before it fails to respond.

Not necessarily so. Pings can be blocked whereas traceroute -In could
get you a response.

My guess is you will find that the router logs indicate a failed login
attempt.
