Yes, in that situation it may make sense to use one of the tandem stands with two monitors. I have two computers as well: A Windows, and a Linux. But I use a KVM switch. I mostly use the Windows desktop and then have an SSH session into the Linux box as well as a browser window and a file manager window into the Samba mount, when I am working with files in Linux.
