Yes, there are many groups: it's difficult to start somewhere. I got pointed to alt.folklore.computers by a bloke on IRC. I think that someone should take start to list up worthy newsgroup resources. Even though, to be honest, I think that the same applies to the web as well: many sites are there just as a clickbait, but do not offer real value. Once upon a time there were portals.
