Put something like:

	GITHASH = `git log -1 --format="%H"`

	CFLAGS += -DGITHASH=${GITHASH}

into your Makefile.  Then in the code you'll have a macro called
"GITHASH" with the has in it.

Make sure that the object file for the module that uses this macro is
dependent on all your source files, of course, so that the build works
correctly.

You might want to have this -D flag only on that one file, especially if
you are using something like ccache.
