I tested on my setup (VS 2015), and
found something mildly weird.

https://i.postimg.cc/CMXq3bf9/vs-cl-likes-running-on-one-core-via-affinity.gif

    timeit cl -c testbig.c

If you use the Task Manager affinity control, the
program speeds up, and that is reflected in the
claimed number of context switches.

However, you would not do this in practice. I have
a Chromium build test case, and some of the steps
in there (it uses VS 2015 command line tools), a single
invocation there can run on three cores. You would not
want to tie the hands of the toolset in that case.

But for straight line drag racing, affinity seems to help.

Even if the result, overall, isn't that impressive.
At least it's a little faster.
