Here is what I said 3 hours and 20 minutes ago: ———- Math is a language that describes the model. Of course the language used to describe the thing is not the thing. But you have to know the language in order to understand the model. You say, “But you owe it to me to explain the model in simple language I understand.” No. No one owes you that. You are expected to learn the language. Don’t want to? Fine, then you’ll never understand the model. Period, end of story. ——- > > Ill explain it again so even YOU can understand: math is NOT reality. > Math DESCRIBES some parts of reality- maybe- if our CONCEPTS are correct. > > Now: which concepts do you claim are being described? > Quarks? What shape does your math say they are? > Electrons? What form does your math say they take? > Gravity? What comes out of matter to cause it? > > Where is your model? > You can’t draw it. > You can’t explain it. > All you can do is holler, “John doesn’t know math.” Because you don’t know the math that is needed to describe it. I’ll give you another example, John. Symmetry. SO(3) is the kind of symmetry a sphere has, but without math you wouldn’t be able to describe how this is similar or different from SO(2), which is the kind of symmetry that a circle has. Notice that symmetry does not mean shape. Now if I tell you that quark interactions have SU(3) symmetry, this is different from both SO(2) and SO(3) and there is no shape that exhibits SU(3) symmetry. But if you knew the math behind symmetry groups, the connection would be immediately obvious, as well as what the first two symmetries really mean. Some concepts do not fit into the language you know. You HAVE to learn the language to get those concepts. Now, a woodworker has no problem learning the language. There IS NO EXCUSE for not learning the language. Except possibly fear of failure. In language you know, that’s called being a chickenshit. > > Can’t you see how empty you are of ANYTHING? > Go plane a board > -- Odd Bodkin — Maker of fine toys, tools, tables
