No real issues for me using Unison 2.2 in High Sierra. The "biggest" 
problem is that it sometimes crashes when you try to add someone to the 
killfile - they still get added and you simply re-open Unison 
(cancelling the reporting since it's no longer being developed anyway).

I don't use binary newsgroups, so I don't know if there are other 
problems with those. I'm also using free newsservers, so I don't know 
if there are problems with newsserver logins.

I tried Hogwasher and found it to be awful and kludgey, but that was 
quite a while ago so there may have been a newer, cleaned up version 
since then.
