And what of Hydrogen ?
Won't anyone think of the Hydrogen ?
I was burned by Hydrogen once. And the
hydrogen explosion (a separate event), just
lifted the floor sbove my head... a little bit.
And none of my family members came running, to see
what happened. That was the strangest event
of all.

Come to think of it, I got an important empirical
result there. The hydrogen did stay as a cloud
near the ceiling. When I was in the process of
"burning off the excess for safety", the container
I was working with was still evolving a tiny amount
of hydrogen. And normally, I'd burn off the hydrogen
before anything nasty happened. In that case, I
waited a little too long to tend to it, and there
was a cloud over my head (that you can't see). (The
experiment was initially done outdoors for safety,
but I decided to bring it inside to disassemble it,
on the assumption the reaction had run to completion.
Bad assumption. Bad maintenance procedure.)
Eventually, the experiments with Hydrogen... stopped.
The Tevatron results here suggested that small gases
like that, they disperse and form a uniform
concentration from top to bottom, inside the
enclosure (room, building). But mine only had
time to float to the ceiling, and wasn't all
that dispersed.
