Utter nonsense.

1. Light is waves in a medium. It travels very fast.

2. Light is TRANSVERSE waves in the medium because it can be polarized. 
Sound it Longitudinal waves in it's medium (air) and is NOT polarized.

3. But some vibrational waves ARE polarized in certain medium so you 
cold call them "sound".

4. Sound and vibrations are transmitted by motion (energy) of atoms and 
the couplings between them (fields).

5. While material structures are not the basic medium of light, they 
certainly DO respond to light "vibrations". This is why optical 
materials have different properties from vacuum. Take a good look at 
X-ray diffraction for example.

6. Thus to say that light ignores atoms and molecules and does not 
interact with them is just plain wrong.
