Here in New Zealand these days schools expect parents to buy their kids 
a tablet or laptop to use at school, including those in junior school. 
Many school stationery lists for the kids also now include the parents 
buying whiteboard pens for the teacher and boxes of tissues.   :-\

Of courtse, schools thes days don't actually teach anything useful 
because the teachers are too busy forcing kids into exercise and 
sticking their nose into the kids' lunchboxes (and sending letters home 
to parents when the kids has a home-baked cake!)
