Only if one of objects is in rest,
even in classical preSR physics.

2 approaching balls from left and right have ( incoming) speed 150
 km/h, while their closing speed is 300 km/h.

So you say 150=300

Sure, if one of balls were in rest,
the speed of the moving one
and their mutual closing speed
would be equal.

But equal does not mean the same,
the same are just values of the quantities, not quantities  themselves.
