You need to specify *binary* floating point.

Decimal floating point (DFP) is preferable for financial calculations
and has been finalized in IEEE854, but hardware implementations
of it are completely lacking.

Hopefully, the processor manufacturers will get up to speed
and incorporate DFP into a future release and soon.
