No, in both cases you are voting for a particular candidate When you number all the boxes in the order you want to, you are spelling out which candidate you prefer if the one you gave 1 to doesn't get enough votes to be elected > Do you people have any say as to who the candidates are, That's up to the candidates to put themselves up for election > or does the party decide all that for you? The only say the partys have is who they agree to have as their candidate If no party will have a particular candidate or the individual decides no to be a candidate for any particular party, they are free to stand as independants
