there was an incident some years ago where some soldiers trying to raise 
a flag pole touched an overhead MV line and, I think all of them died 
don't remember exactly. I think their parents sued the greek army and 
state for no-one having warned them to the dangers of HV electricity. 
MVlines in Greece are all (almost) 20 kV but not earth referenced, 
that's line-to-line voltage and is always 3 phase without a neutral.All 
distribution transformers in Greece are 3 phase and quite large (say 640 
kVA) and usually feed a whole neighborhood.Secondary always 400 V, 
3-phase and neutral *line-to-line 400 V, line-to-neutral 230 
V*generation is (in the mainland) brown coal, hydro, wind and solar and 
some steam turbines that used to be mazut but now natural gas (much 
cleaner). in the islands 2-stroke diesels either with diesel (small) or 
mazut (larger) gas turbines (diesel) and small steam units with 
mazut.also some regeneratives, too.a large amount of resident hot water 
is generated with solar power (heliotherma) as for instance in Crete 
where I am the sun shines 330 days a year (like in Israel for instance).
