nope, the website is correct.

GPS is classic SS, was develped in the early 70s, everybody was 
interested in  the P code, if the code could be guessed.

SS is one thing, frequency hopping is another, and the combination 
SS+frequency hopped is yet another.

GPS is SS. (or DSSS)

WIFI was initially combo, frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS)
WIFI has moved on DSSS, OFDM etc...

why do all that fancy modultion? to minimize inteference of others in 
the same coverage area, and reduce multipath.  Else you could use OOK 
and go faster, cheaper.
