Or even better, one with tapered resistivity, so it's got lower losses where 
there's the most power, and so on.

A spool of RG-58 is a pretty good resistor, if a nonuniform one.  It's been 
done before.

After a hundred feet or so, you wouldn't even much care about a wirewound 
resistor as the final termination!
