Have you ever tried?

I did, and practically every application I tried to use would fall over 
within a few minutes (or, sometimes, within a few seconds).

I do worry sometimes. So many people think that features are more 
important than robustness. The prevailing attitude seems to be that, if 
there isn't enough memory to do /everything/, we'll damn well do 
nothing. Not enough memory for a new tab in the browser, say? What 
should we do? Put up a dialog saying "sorry, can't do that, but we'll 
leave the other tabs open so you can keep on doing whatever you were 
doing"? No, that sounds too sensible. Let's just crash and burn, and to 
hell with the user.

Oh well. C'est la vie.
