Quite so. The difference is very important.

Well, it has to be linked, but gcc does it for you (except as noted 
previously regarding the math library), so you don't need to do anything 
special (except as noted previously regarding the math library).

But you /do/ need to keep your headers straight; gcc won't do that for you.
