Not so! I was /going/ to point out that it was a syntax error, but then 
I decided instead to explain that it isn't.

;&&pointer;

is indeed a syntax error, but &&pointer need not be. For example, in:

if(x&&pointer)

it's perfectly legal.

Right. And it's legal, even if pointer's value is indeterminate, because 
pointer itself is not evaluated.
