I missed the earlier thread, are you compiling on the target ? It clearly isn't running any coherently assembled bunch of software so you may have an uphill struggle. At this point I think I'd look if there's an open NAS distro that supports the device. Failing that, using a toolchain like Buildroot might let you configure and cross-build packages which are compatible with your device's idiosyncracies of filesystem and versioning.
