However, it was possible to install Linux without _all_ of the
packages from a set of floppy disks. I actually doubted myself when
Peter the Klöwn brought up that it was impossible for it to have been
less than 67 disks but the early versions of Slackware could indeed be
installed without the need for the whole thing. I couldn't do much
without all of those extra packages, clearly, but it was still
installed on the hard disk.
