ACK.  However, the OP mentions:

Therefore this newsgroup is somewhat OT anyway.  Therefore, FUP2 c.l.php.

BTW: don't use str_replace() in this case; use htmlspecialchars() with
the appropriate $encoding.  Consider to also use strip_tags().
