Hehe... That was around the time I was working for the NSA at the time.
CIA was heavily funded by all the street dope heads at that time, so 
they really didn't care if congress cut all of their budget.  I remember 
while being in Panama that the Air Force C-130s were leaving fully 
loaded with cocaine heading for the U.S.  The military didn't have 
customs searching anything at their air bases in the U.S., so tons of 
dope were divided up to various DEA agents and passed on to the various 
drug king pins around the country.  No way could that much dope end up 
in all major cities without this kind of a distribution network.

During that time, earlier in 1968, the panamanian military coup the news 
agencies took the only feed available to them was from the military 
Intel bunch.  The news feed was carefully crafted to not contain any 
actual numbers or types of tanks that the panamanian government had and 
just said that they had many tanks... yeah, like two old rusty M-80s 
from WWII, but they knew that the public would envision many Abrahms 
style tanks instead.  It is these little lies that distorts the truth. 
That's why the vast majority of people have never been educated about 
the real nature of journalism, if that is what they want to call it. 
Remember Bill Clintons nuance of speech "Depends on what you mean by 
IS."  He knew.  So as Michael Savage said, "There are no real 
journalists today."  Which is the basis of propaganda today.
