DFS), and several gurus there scoffed at it.

What is sizeof (imageType *) ?
What is sizeof int64_t ?
If they are different:
At best, you will get a compiler warning or error.
At worst, you get a silent corruption of clientData.
If they are the same:
Good luck with that.

This entire process could have been performed much more easily by
simply casting the value of src with
image->clientData[0] = (int64_t)src;
