windoze got 'standby' for this, but it moves all memory to disk.

Mine does it in part, but it's impossible for all application types.

you mean an immediate single key 'stop' which saves everything 
including mouse position and all temporary configuration setting ? 

But it shouldn't restore actual Date&Time :)

perhaps not too important but it's a convenient feature anyway.
